An error in testing which saw 100 South Australian men being wrongly told they still had prostate cancer after surgery was due to a faulty batch of testing kits provided to SA Pathology, Health Minister Jack Snelling said.
The errors in test results were picked up when Adelaide urologist Peter Sutherland ordered fresh testing for some of his patients when they returned concerning results despite already having had their prostate glands removed.
The bungle led to the sacking of SA Pathology’s chief executive officer Ken Barr.
