RANZCR Announces New President

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) is excited to announce the appointment of Clin A/Prof Sanjay Jeganathan as the President, effective from 1 January 2022.

A/Prof Jeganathan was elected by the Board of Directors at RANZCR and his appointment received unanimous support from members of the Board. He has a solid grasp on the regulatory and political environments across Australia and New Zealand, bringing valuable strategic and business skills, with excellent experience in clinical leadership and a keen interest to build on his knowledge and network of contacts across health care and government.

Dr Lance Lawler, current RANZCR President, said: “It is pleasing to know that I will be handing over this privilege to an experienced and astute leader, confident that RANZCR will continue its leading position in professional education and training, research, advocacy, and industry excellence under the new leadership.”

A/Prof Jeganathan has long served RANZCR and his profession in many ways, with extensive clinic experience in both Australian and New Zealand. A key highlight of his work at RANZCR is his insightful and strategic input as Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Radiology. In this role he has demonstrated great leadership skills, built important relationships with external stakeholders and members, contributed effectively to the Board of Directors and increased his knowledge in matters important to each profession.

“It is a great honour to take over the position of the President of RANZCR. I am aware of the significant responsibilities that this important leadership role entails as well as many challenges facing the profession and the industry. I am committed to taking RANZCR on a strategic direction for a positive future of Clinical Radiology and Radiation Oncology in the digital and AI era of health care delivery in both Australia and New Zealand,” said A/Prof Jeganathan.

Notably, A/Prof Sanjay Jeganathan has been engaged in the Department of Health’s Diagnostic Imaging Advisory Committee and the MBS Review’s Diagnostic Imaging Clinical Committee, and as Chair of the Peak Imaging Coalition.
