Ovarian cancer: Current best practice

The Royal Society of Medicine will be holding an event on the Friday 10th January 2020 about the current best practice in ovarian cancer.

This conference will provide a fascinating day of discussions and updates on the most current topics in the diagnosis and management of ovarian cancer, from both a clinical and scientific perspective.

The programme will cover a broad range of both clinical and scientific topics, encompassing rarer as well as more common forms of ovarian cancer.

Novel translational data will be presented, some for the first time.

During the conference, delegates will learn about:

• the biology of ovarian cancer
• progress made in the early detection of ovarian cancer
• the pros and cons of treatment modalities in the upfront setting
• the evolving role of PARP inhibitors in ovarian cancer
• the current evidence for immunotherapy treatments in ovarian cancer
• rare ovarian cancers.

The keynote on cell context, mutation and ovarian cancer control will be given by Dr David Huntsman, Dr Chew Wei Memorial Professor of Gynaecologic Oncology and Professor, Departments of Pathology and Lab Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of British Columbia, Vancouver.

The packed programme will bring together a panel of international speakers from the UK, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland and France and will include Professor Dipanjan Chowdhury, Chief Division of Radiation and Genomic Stability, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Professor, Harvard Medical School, Boston, who will discuss breast cancer gene (BRCA) mutation signatures.

There are limited bursary places available for oncology trainees and nurses on a first come first served basis.
